April Work Day
Courtesy of SMBC we have some new shrub planting in the bed NW of the centre circle, which makes amends for the recent rather brutal pruning of the existing shrubs.
The blue bells in wildflower corner are coming into flower.
The tulips and hyacinths in the Star bed are beginning to look decent but the wet winter has not suited them very well.
On the April workday the usual weather proof volunteers turned out despite the rain (they must have known about the cake), and managed to do much of what Peter had suggested: tidying old herbaceous growth, pruning out prickly plants by paths, and doing a thorough clearance of weeds and leaves from the perimeter bed by the store. It looks ready for some new plants.
Peter continues to make great improvements and anyone who wants to assist him is welcome. He sometimes can’t be there until noon, but he is there every fortnight. His next visit is on 12 May.
