A big thank you to everyone who came along to join in the fun today.

Thank you to all our volunteers:

The Co-op, the local Rotary club, Moor Mums, St Thomas's School PTA, Stella Maris school, and Friends of Heaton Moor Park and their families.

Without their help the event would not have been so successful.

A special thank you to the Co-op in Heaton Moor who donated the hot cross buns which we sold at the Easter Egg Hunt.

We will let you know in due course how much money was raised.

Improving Heaton Moor Park

Some of you may have noticed that as well as the staff from SolutionsUK, we now have Peter back in the park. Peter was part of the Stockport Council horticultural team but following the cutbacks in the budgets he is now self-employed. The Friends have now managed to secure regular help from Peter. This is possible from the money we have raised from events like Carols in the Park and the Easter Egg Hunt and from regular donations through the Localgiving website. The result of having a professional's help are already visible.

At work in the star bed

An extra workday was held on 6 June 2015 to remove the bulbs from the star bed and plant some lovely verbena. Azaleas in the background look glorious.

Because Stockport Council has reduced funding for the park maintenance, these workdays contribute more than ever to the beauty of the park - all welcome! They take place on the 2nd Saturday of each month, 11 AM - 3 PM, with refreshments served around 1 PM.

Carols in the Park Best Ever

The day was cold and stayed dry up to the magic hour of 4 pm!

With the help of the Stockport Schools Brass Band and the Do Your Thing choir and all brillant neighbours and friends in the Heaons, there was plenty of carols sung out to welcome the festive season.

Mulled wine, mince pies, chestnuts roasting, Santa's Grotto, a festive tombola and beautiful reindeer sculptures and lanterns courtesy the Heatons Art Trail completed a wonderful afternoon.

Thanks to all who came by and supported the Friends of Heaton Moor Park.
