The Friends of Heaton Moor Park launched 2026 with a brilliant round of work carried out in the park on their first Gardening Day of the year.
Volunteers enjoyed a lovely morning of partially sunny weather, no rain and light breezes and completed a number of activities to make this lovely special park even lovelier. They:
- Lopped off masses of ivy climbing up into tree branches
- Reduced an over-supply of tree trunk shoots that will find uses in a future project
- Created space around a blossoming quince so its beauty could be better enjoyed
- Freed a large portion of a flower bed of weeds and added compost
- Built a useful set of shelves for the store room
- Assembled and tested a rotating compost ‘riddle,’
- Added logs to a path border
- Tagged and removed a mountain of errant saplings.
