On 22/8/2025, the Knitting Friends in the park celebrated fourteen years of excellent knitting, crochet, sewing. discussion, lunching and hilarity in the park Pavilion.
The group meets every Friday, 10.30am, to knit and exchange expertise on their crafts. All are welcome. There have been all sorts of knitters over the years, ranging from the most accomplished to new beginners. Members generously exchange unwanted yarn, needles and patterns. There is much intelligent conversation and debate, and skill building. Coffee, tea and biscuits are served.
There have been several contributions to deserving charities, such as knitting tiny hats for newborns, and blankets for birthing huts in resource-poor countries.
A small, voluntary donation is requested at each meeting, and, over time, this has resulted in much-appreciated donations to park funds. Come and join us!
The park also has a flourishing reading group.

To join the Reading Friends, simply come along to a meeting held once each month and to talk about any book you have read or tried to read and have found enjoyable/ intriguing/ boring/ other adjective as applicable.
Unlike many book groups, there is need to find/ buy/ finish a particular book, or have discussions about what to read next. Just come along and share any book you have read or are reading.
3rd Thursday of each month.
10am-11:30 in the Park Pavilion. Free. Small voluntary donation requested.
