Park notes and news November 2025

Nov 16, 2025 | Thoughts about the park

Halloween and all the trimmings came to the Park on Saturday 25th October, managing to find a fairly calm and dry time in these wet and windy autumn days. Many thanks to all of the community who came along and special thanks to all the team of volunteers who put it together………https://www.heatonmoorpark.co.uk/halloween-comes-to-the-park-2/

Garden day
Update from garden day Saturday 15th November 2025……. We got lucky with the weather Saturday and dodged Storm Claudia. Got much done with the help of Adrian, Ann, Cath, Ed, Glen, Hannah, Jeff, Jon, Julia, Karen, Matt Herbert, Mike:
Planted another 120 tulip and muscari bulbs thanks to Julia’s planting plan.
Planted a bag of Croci/crocuses, kindly donated by Adrian (of Crocus Corner).
Cleared many the mountain of leaves (and some mud) off the path leading from Buckingham Road to the centre isle and from the star bed area.
Checked out the tables in the shed and improved their standard (all are usable).
Put up signs around the park advertising the Halloween Event.
Cut down dead whips of the Willow Tunnel as many were of the ‘poke a kid’s eye out’ height
Trimmed back roses around the bowling green.
Next garden day will be Saturday 17th January 2026 – none planned for December..

Benches
In the park we are lucky to have several stout benches. This is a useful resource- Open benches, A map of 39,079 memorial benches – and one can add to it online. https://openbenches.org/
